Explore Number-Sense With Your Child
On this rainy, cold spring day in the Pacific Northwest, I find myself planning for summer. This is a great time for parents to plan for summer learning activities and experiences that build number-sense for their dyscalculic child.
Last summer I led a group of moms through a six-week series of planned out number-sense lessons full of simple activities and games to do with their students. It was a great experience for the parents and their students.
Each family began with their child demonstrating much resistance to anything related to math class. But by the end of the six weeks together, all of the students had warmed up to the different way of exploring math and were truly enjoying the games and activities with their parents!
In fact these students and parents connected so much to this way of teaching, it’s now eight months later and we have continued to meet on Mondays this entire year to learn and explore number sense together!
If you are interested in exploring number-sense with your child this summer in a way that is surprisingly engaging, fun, and planned out for you, then I encourage you to reach out to me. This summer I will offer a limited amount of six-week consult packages with lesson plans/activities specific for dyscalculic students.
This could be something you explore with your child, or invite a family member, nanny, or tutor to do the activities with them.
This package includes six weeks of lessons, each activity repeated 3-5 times per week, and personal guidance tailored to your child's experience with the learning content. It is specifically for students with dyscalculia. To learn more about the teaching content, the layout of lessons, and activities check out this page.
